back in the UK (PART I)

After our Netherlands-France trip, we went back to London where we spent our last two weeks. The UK has just a lot more for us! So much that the two weeks we allotted for it was still not enough. Nevertheless, we made the most out of it! :)

May 16,2011 - Monday

It was the Globetrotters day out with Uncle Jorge! We first went to Somerset House with 55 fountains dancing in the courtyard. We planned to play and run through the fountains but it was just too cold for that idea. Haha! Around that time, Ai Weiwei's Circle of Animals Exhibit was stationed at the courtyard.  The exhibit comprised of 12 bronze sculptures which were recreations of the traditional Chinese Zodiac heads. Honestly, this was far more significant, for me, than the sunflower seeds. Just saying :p

Then, off we went to Trafalgar square and visited the National Gallery. Free entrance yo! Uncle Alan and Uncle Jorge are most proud of how art is accessible and very much appreciated in London.

We also went to the National Portrait Gallery, Charingcross Road, and bookshops like Foyles. Another highlight of this day was our tea time at the Crypt. The crypt is generally a part of a church where the most significant heads and people of the Church are buried. It has been an attraction not just because of the coffins or the relics beneath the floor, but also because of the cafes which have the perfect lighting. Yes, imagine yourself having a cup of coffee, tea, or hot chocolate, while sitting literally on top of a dead man. Hihi.

we had hot chocolate and a variety of pastries including scones! :D
May 17, 2011 - Tuesday

So much reminiscing happened at Kew Gardens because it was the same beautiful place where Uncle Alan and Uncle Jorge's civil partnership was held, on a more wonderful time :) The Royal Botanical Gardens at Kew grows different species from different continents with various types of weather and seasons.

Just after lunch, we headed to the Windsor Castle which is the current home of the Queen. The most amazing parts of the castle were St. George's Chapel, the State Apartments, and Queen Mary's huge dolls' house.

May 18, 2011 - Wednesday

This day was about the globetrotters being so loved! After our last shopping day at Primark, we had a quick lunch at Mcdo and watched Les Miserables (tickets from the best Uncles in the world!). OUTSTANDING production! The songs Bring him home, On my own, I dreamed a dream, and Who am I were stuck in our heads for days! You know what's the better part of Les Mis? Marvin treated us souvenirs! :D

After the show, we met up with Uncle Jorge and we conquered the rain just to reach Arnel's crib. Our good friend Arnel prepared a fiesta-like dinner for us! Great food with the coolest company! :D

May 19, 2011 - Thursday

This was a day for the independent globetrotters! With a map and itinerary prepared by Uncle Alan and a packed lunch made by Uncle Jorge, we sure had a great day tour! :) First stop: Buckingham palace for the changing of the guards.

Then we walked to Westminster and then we walked, walked, and walked some more and reached different attractions :)

Independence at its best! :)
